Online gaming

Take gaming to a whole new level and play online. Not only does it add a whole new dimension to games but you get to interact with real people for an even greater challenge!

Online gaming is more popular than ever. MMORPGs (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games) have been brought into the mainstream with some of the most popular games being released in that genre. Not all of them involve using swords or casting magic. In games like Second Life, you can do exactly the same sort of things
you can do in real life. Make products, sell them to other second life characters, buy land, build houses etc. But what is truly amazing though is that everyone you interact with is being controlled by another person just like you.

As well as dedicated online games, most other games allow you to go online also. You’re normally given a list of servers when you select the online feature, which you can join immediately and start playing your game with random people all over the world. Or if you so choose,
you can create your own online game and allow other people to join it. With a bit of planning you could get all your local friends and family playing the same game with you!

To get the best performance from online gaming it’s advisable that you use a broadband connection. A dial up connection will work for some games but you may experience severe lag where nothing happens on the screen for several seconds. This could be a big issue if you’re racing around a track then suddenly find yourself in the side of a barn.

Be warned that online gaming is very addictive and you may find that you lose whole weekends to it! Just remember to take lots of breaks before your eyes turn square.
