Media Center

More and more homes are using a computer as the hub of entertainment. From music to movies, pictures to games, you can do more on your PC than just browse the Internet.

Having a computer in your lounge at the turn of the century would have almost been laughable. Why would you have done it? Well, there wasn't much reason to do it then, but now there is. Your computer can now be used as a digital tuner, a DVD player and recorder, a hard drive recorder and many other things that would have once graced your living room.

With the PC in your living room attached to your home network, you can access the content of all the computers attached to it. That means you can watch videos, look at pictures and listen to music from any networked computer in the comfort of your favourite arm chair. If you have Windows Media Center or something similar, you can watch TV through your PC and if your PC has a digital tuner, you can watch Freeview and view the electronic program guide. Not only that, you can record it to the hard drive to watch it later or burn it to a DVD. If you really need to watch the Coronation Street omnibus, Media Center supports P.I.P (Picture in Picture) so you can finish off your report without missing out on the action.

If you don’t fancy having a computer in the lounge and you have an Xbox 360 then you can use it to stream video straight to your TV from any Media Center computer on the network.

It's always exciting when you find something new you can do with your PC, so why not find out how you can make the most from your computer.

Did you know?

Streaming works both ways, so while your Media Center computer can access all of your content, you can also access the files on the Media Center PC. This means you don't have to go down stairs to watch the programs you have recorded.
